Visitor Visa Applications

Canada welcomes more than 3.5 Million temporary residents each year, such as tourists, temporary foreign workers, and international students.

Individuals who wish to enter Canada for a temporary purpose must apply for and be granted a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).

A TRV is a document issued outside of Canada by a Canadian Immigration Visa Office. It shows that the holder has satisfied the requirements for admission to Canada as a visitor. A TRV may be for a single entry or multiple entries.

As a general rule, tourists are admitted for a period of six months. Extensions may be applied for within Canada.
