Steve has practised law for over 25 years, including many years as Managing Partner of one of British Columbia’s most successful law firms, Cowley & Company. Aman Walia completed his articling year and early practice at Cowley & Company, where a strong professional relationship was formed,  grounded in mutual respect, trust, and shared values.

Over the years, Steve has assisted Walia Law Group on several complex matters and has already acted as trial counsel with the firm, delivering extraordinary results. His formal joining marks a natural and exciting continuation of that collaboration.

Steve holds the distinguished designation of King’s Counsel (KC), an honour reserved for exceptional members of the legal profession. In 2023, only 26 lawyers across British Columbia were appointed from among hundreds of nominees. The Attorney General of British Columbia included the following praise for Steve:

Throughout his career, Steve has consistently achieved outstanding results for his clients, many of whom have written to describe the peace of mind and confidence they experienced through his representation. He has represented clients successfully at all levels of court in British Columbia, including complex trials and appeals before the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Court of Appeal.

Steve leads the firm’s Estate Litigation practice. He takes a particular interest in matters involving estates where no proper planning was done, or where unfair or opportunistic claims threaten the rightful distribution of assets. In addition, his practice includes family law, construction litigation, and personal injury law.
