If you are a permanent resident or a citizen of Canada, you can sponsor your spouse and your family members.

 

The basic requirements for a sponsor or a citizen are as follows:

• should be a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen

• should be at least 18 years of age

• should have satisfactory income to support their relatives once they arrive in Canada

• must enter into a written agreement with the Canadian government to support their relatives for a period of three years for spouses, common-law partners or conjugal partners and ten years for other relatives
